CHI St. Alexius Health is a regional health network with a tertiary hospital in Bismarck, the system also consists of critical access hospitals (CAHs) in Carrington, Dickinson, Devils Lake, Garrison, Turtle Lake, Washburn and Williston and numerous clinics and outpatient services. Performs high quality cardiovascular studies to contribute to the accurate diagnosis and assessment of patient's conditions, treating each patient with respect and dignity. Reports to the supervisor of the Noninvasive Cardiovascular Lab (Echo/Stress Lab).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Properly performs adult echocardiography including m-mode, 2D, pulsed and continuous wave Doppler, per procedure, correctly obtaining and archiving necessary views with proper documentation
Properly performs all aspects of echocardiography on neonates, pediatrics, and adolescents per procedure, including Doppler and color flow.
Properly performs carotid duplex scans, per procedure, properly archiving and documenting pertinent data of adults, including geriatrics.
Properly performs venous duplex studies, per procedure, properly archiving and documenting pertinent data on adults, including geriatrics.
Assist physicians with Transesophageal echocardiography.
Education: Allied health care professional with knowledge and expertise in the field of echocardiography and/or a graduate of a cardiac sonography program.
Experience: Graduate from a cardiac sonography program or 5 years experience performing cardiac sonography and vascular ultrasound.
Skills: Computer ability and fine motor skills. Ability to differentiate colors and variation in sounds.. Excellent communication skills are necessary because of the constant communication with hospital and clinic staff and with patients.
Interpersonal Skills: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and public. Maintains a high degree of confidentiality.
Physical Effort: Light - medium. Able to push and pull up to 36 pounds on an occasional basis which is required in moving ultrasound equipment and patients.
Hours of Work: Variable day shift hours - Monday through Friday, plus on-call hours..
