Applications are now being accepted for the position of:         WATER PLANT OPERATOR-TRAINEE Under direct and sometimes general supervision, performs work in the operation and maintenance of the Water Treatment Plant and its associated facilities on an assigned shift. Work involves the raw water delivery system including reservoirs and raw water piping and pumping facilities; the production of potable water through proper treatment and processing to ensure compliance with United States Environmental Protection Agency and Texas Commission on Environmental Quality regulations; and the delivery of that potable water to the distribution system.  Reports to the RLO and/or the Superintendent. The trainee may also at times be under the supervision of a shift operator. The duties and expectations described herein apply to the Operator Trainee insofar as he/she is gaining knowledge, experience and training sufficient that within six months the trainee can perform in the capacity of a fully trained operator and within twelve months be prepared for certification testing for Class “C” Surface Water Operator’s License. The trainee is generally under supervision by another certified operator. The trainee may be assigned duties without direct supervision once training has been accomplished.  The Operator Trainee will remain a trainee until such time as certification is achieved. The Operator Trainee position is not a permanent position at the WTP. The Trainee is expected to achieve certification as soon as possible and should certification not be achieved; the trainee may be discharged from employment at the WTP.             Full-time.
