The Data Analyst is full-time position, 40 hours per week, in the Office of Institutional Research. The Analyst assists in maintaining a responsive office by providing data support for institutional planning, decision making, and reporting. The Analyst creates data reports utilizing Cognos, a relational database extraction tool which pulls data from our data warehouse. The Analyst performs complex analyses of data, such as analyzing patterns and tracking longitudinal data. Another primary role of the analyst is creating data dashboards in Tableau as well as providing training in its usage for CCA colleagues as needed. The Analyst must be able to maintain accurate data reporting on projects with shifting priorities and tight deadlines and demonstrate the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. The position supports departments on both the CentreTech and Lowry campuses with some travel between campuses required (approximately 15 minutes).
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to the quality and accuracy of data and research reports; show attention to detail while also being able to see the larger significance of research findings; and bring creativity and an enthusiasm for helping people understand and use information.
* Design, produce and validate reports using Cognos Report Studio, Excel, and SPSS
* Create data dashboard using Tableau, provide a training to the dashboard users and operational units, and maintain the dashboards with recent data
* Work with large complex data sets, including exporting/importing data from various sources, cleaning data files, and maintaining historical data records
* Identify, design, and execute quantitative research projects, providing input on design, development, and implementation
* Provide quality assurance checks on data produced both internally and externally
* Provide technical support for data issues or inquiries related to developed reports
* Write user-friendly documentation on all developed reports
* Provide database management backup for Applications Developer
* Perform additional duties as assigned
Bachelor's in related field such as statistics, mathematics, social science, behavioral science, or information science; or equivalent combination of degree achievement and professional experience
Demonstrated ability to identify, analyze and report information that is complex in nature
Demonstrated ability to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner to non-technical audiences verbally, graphically, and in written reports
Proficiency using statistical software (SPSS preferred)
Experience designing dashboards (Tableau preferred)
Understanding of relational database management systems (Cognos preferred)
Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects
Advanced degree in related field
Work experience at the postsecondary level or in a community college setting
Work experience at Institutional Research
Documented experience creating reports from a data warehouse
Programming experience (SQL server, Java script, HTML)Salary:: $49,000-$51.000 annually. This salary is determined by the qualifications of the selected candidate balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information. CCA offers an excellent benefit plan. Leave and holiday benefits are also included. Full time employees immediately upon hire earn 15 hours a month annual leave and 10 hours a month sick leave.
