The Network Analyst is responsible for all aspects of managing the Duke communications and infrastructure network, including provisioning, installation, configuration, monitoring, and ongoing maintenance of network infrastructure, as well as design, implementation, configuration, testing, and support of network infrastructure. Work will be focused on network security, specifically Network Access Control (NAC) solution, and Palo Alto firewalls, along with the implementation of large network projects at all three Duke hospital locations and upgrade to core and distribution networks in preparation for cloud efforts. Work Performed LEVEL 2: * The Level 2 duties include the following: * Maintain and sustain network infrastructure for wired, wireless, and data center network systems. * Maintain data, voice or video network hardware and systems; investigate and resolve network and hardware matters of significance; research, analyze, isolate and resolve errors; assess and update older networks as needed and in accordance with specified plans. * Provide technical support on data, voice or video networks for internal and/or external customers; answers technical questions; recommend and implement approved course of action. * Provide technical leadership for data or voice network projects, problems, incidents, escalations, and resolution. * Develop and maintain processes, procedures and metrics consistent with best practices and service level agreements to ensure 100% network service availability. * Seek opportunities to enhance organizational operational cohesiveness. * Design, implement, maintain, upgrade, and patch systems to be compliant with Duke information security policies and standards regarding protection from external and internal security attacks. * Administer, validate, and review network logging, access controls, audit logs and system integrity to maximize network and system security, integrity and data confidentiality. * Maintain currency on production networking technologies and best- practices to perform this role and make accurate trouble-isolation and determination of root cause issues. * Research and remediate generic and system-specific vulnerabilities. * Act as a subject matter expert for network technologies. * Mentor junior network analysts. * Configure, optimize, document, provide reporting metrics, and develop procedures to support the network infrastructure via efficient engineering design, optimization, and troubleshooting with various tools, processes, and technologies. Essential tasks/responsibilities: * Participate in 24x7x365 monitoring and support for all network services (wired, wireless, VoIP, NAC, etc.) * Implement, configure, maintain and report on the telecommunication services supporting the Duke Heath network. * The candidate must have production experience in the entire lifecycle of enterprise firewalls/VPN and telecommunications circuit management. * Maintain and sustain Duke Health network infrastructure (wired, wireless, network systems). * Design and maintain data, voice and firewall network hardware and systems; investigate and resolve network and hardware matters of significance; research, analyze, isolate and resolve errors; assess and update older network infrastructure and circuits as needed and in accordance with specified plans. * Provide technical support on data, voice or video networks for internal and/or external customers; answers technical questions; recommend and implement approved course of action. * Provide technical leadership for data or voice network problem escalation and resolution. * Develop and maintain processes, procedures and metrics consistent with industry best practices and service level agreements to ensure 100% network service availability. * Maintain documentation and procedures to ensure adherence to institutional, state and federal policies and regulations. * Ensure security of technology solutions implemented and supported. * Author, implement, execute, and periodically update System Security, Business Continuity, and Disaster Recovery Plan to be consistent with Duke Medicine policies and standards regarding security and HIPAA compliance. * Design, implement, maintain, upgrade, and patch systems to be compliant with Duke Medicine's security policies and standards regarding protection from external and internal security attacks. * Design and implement scalable and robust enterprise network infrastructure solutions. * Administer, validate, and review user and system accounts, access controls, audit logs and system integrity to maximize system security and data confidentiality. * Research and remediate generic and system-specific vulnerabilities. * Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein. Specific Experience Preferred: * Level 2 - Minimum of 6 years of operational experience in the technologies listed below. * Direct 'hands-on' administration of Cisco and Palo Alto Firewalls * Cisco Networking and IP routing (MPLS, BGP, OSPF, STP, EIGRP, MP-BGP) * Extensive knowledge (subject matter expert) skill set of networking/voice/video/security technologies and services * Extensive knowledge of core Cisco products and technologies(Nexus/MPLS), in addition, VPN, STP, IPSEC, Fabricpath, VPC. * Extensive hands on experience setting up IP networks to guarantee highly available and robust networking (including automatic failover and notification, traffic analysis, QoS and policy-based routing) * Extensive knowledge of network security technologies (NAC, Firewalls, VPN, Certificates, ACLs) * Extensive knowledge of DNS, DHCP, and IP protocols. * Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, performed by a diverse group of professionals * Specific experience in large campus/healthcare Cisco networks, supporting/designing/implementing IP solutions. Healthcare provider and patient care/clinical applications/systems experience Special competencies/credentials required: * Requires North Carolina valid driver's license * Requires Ability to lift up to 50 pounds * Excellent interpersonal skills and strong abilities to develop and enhance relationships with team members, other technical staff, customers and internal groups * Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal forms * Excellent judgment and decision-making skills * Excellent analytical abilities and innovative problem-solving skills Relevant Network Certifications -- preferred (CCIE/CCNP/CISSP) Required Qualifications at this Level Education Training Bachelor's degree in a related field, or four years of equivalent technical experience required. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: LEVEL 2 In addition to the certifications described for the Level 2 CCIE/CCNP/CISSP certification preferred Experience Level 2 - Two years of related experience is required. LEVEL 2: In addition to the KSAs described for Level 2 will demonstrate the following: Must have production experience in the entire lifecycle of IP networks. Expert-level knowledge of L1/L2/L3 network technologies, VoIP/Video technologies such as Quality of Service (QOS), DSCP/DiffServ/COS, MPLS, OSPF, and wireless technologies.
