Overview Job Purpose: This position supports the in vivo genetic engineering team developing novel transgenic animal models using cutting-edge nuclease technology. This position is responsible for molecular biology techniques such as sequence analysis, primer design, PCR, DNA and RNA isolation, gel electrophoresis and cloning. Responsibilities This job contributes to organizational success by: * Participates in determining and finalizing study design with R&D team * Responsible for generating routine genotyping reports and pertinent standard operating protocols (SOPs) * Ensures team's goals are aligned in every project and representative of the overall company's directives * Determines workflow, scheduling of lab assays and responsibilities, and summarizing progress of projects * Acts as liaison between team members and the rest of the organization including participating in customer project technical calls, as needed * Adherence to strict quality control and quality assurance principles Qualifications Qualifications: * Requires a minimum BS with a scientific focus; MS and/or PhD is a plus * Trained Molecular Biologist with at least 5-7 years of relevant experience * Experience in genetic engineering using CRISPR and ZFN technologies * Strong background in modern cellular and molecular biology techniques, including developing various genotyping assays, PCR, cloning, sequence analysis, and DNA and RNA isolation. * Knowledge of technical issues in the areas of biology, genetics, and transgenic technology. * Understanding of transgenic animal model development, including methods for characterization, is preferred Required Skills/Abilities: * Ability to anticipate and troubleshoot technical problems, read and interpret documents, and follow SOPs and protocols * Routine data entry, excellent time management skills, and an attention to detail in documentation practices * Capable of working both independently and in a collaborative team setting * Other: Repetitive action (pipetting) Responsibilities This job contributes to organizational success by: - Participates in determining and finalizing study design with R&D team - Responsible for generating routine genotyping reports and pertinent standard operating protocols (SOPs) - Ensures team's goals are aligned in every project and representative of the overall company's directives - Determines workflow, scheduling of lab assays and responsibilities, and summarizing progress of projects - Acts as liaison between team members and the rest of the organization including participating in customer project technical calls, as needed - Adherence to strict quality control and quality assurance principles
