Expected Length of Internship: * As an internship company, we allow flexibility to enrol in classes while working as an intern, as long as it doesn't interfere with the essential functions of the position. * This internship will be 17 weeks long, from January 3rd 2021 to April 29th 2021 Experience: * No previous experience required Education: * Must currently be enrolled in a Bachelors, Master's or PhD program who is fulfilling a graduation requirement for their degree. * First Solar encourages all interns to register with their University. Required Skills/Competencies: * Microsoft Office * AutoCAD * Proficient Spreadsheet Skills * Minitab / JMP * RSlogix PLC program knowledge Basic Internship Scope (Project): * The Manufacturing Engineer Intern will support the Manufacturing Engineering team in day to day activities in sustaining the production line. This will consist of basic trouble shooting of issues, root cause analysis, and implementation and roll out of engineering fixes. This intern will also support the team in roll out of new equipment upgrade projects. * One major project this internship will focus on will be the preparation for and the assistance in the building of our new high volume manufacturing equipment. * Upon the completion of this internship, the intern is required to present their accomplishments and project summary to the leadership team. US Physical Requirements: Manufacturing & Maintenance Physical Requirements: * Will sit, stand or walk short distances for up to 12 hours per day. * Will climb stairs on an occasional basis. * Will lift up to 51 pounds on an occasional basis, according to work instruction. * Will push or pull up to 27 pounds of force on an occasional basis. * Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects repetitively on a frequent basis. * 20/40 vision in each eye (with or without correction) and the ability to distinguish between red, yellow and green is required. * May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis. * May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis. * Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures. * Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, cut resistant gloves, jackets, aprons &/or arm guards, safety glasses, hearing protection). * All associates working on the production floor may be required to wear a respirator at any given time and thus, the ability to wear a respirator is a condition of employment and continued employment (requires little or no facial hair). Office Physical Requirements: All positions in our office require interaction with people and technology while either standing or sitting.
