Job description: * Administrate the backup systems across multiple sites, multiple operating systems (Windows, Linux), multiple platforms (on-premises and in cloud), and multiple types (virtual machines, databases). * Analyze, test and troubleshoot data backup system issues across multiple geographical sites, periodically check and analyze data backup logs, monitor local area networks (LANs) and wide area network (WAN) activities, ensure the data backup are successful. * Troubleshoot and diagnose computers in the laboratories connecting to various instruments via Ethernet or the network between instrument control center and data acquisition workstations. * Resolve the network connection issues on either instrumental workstations or backup servers, and repair connection problems in a time manner. * Perform data backup using Veritas Backup Exec or other data backup tools. Monitor status of data transferring or data backup and keep the process in stable and secure status. * Follow the data archival standard operation procedure to perform data archival. * Set up permission in Active Directory or Windows client system. * Maintain data backup and archival media and logs. * Document the data backup related incidents and resolutions in IT support ticket system or logbooks. * Work with computer system validation team to complete the tests on data backup, data archival and system recovery. * Maintain IT policies and Standard Operation Policies (SOPs) regarding to data backup and data archival. Skills requirement: * Strong knowledge on system Backup tools * Knowledge on cloud backup, such as backup data to Oracle Cloud * Knowledge on database management system, such as Oracle and SQL Server * Familiar with Oracle RMAN, export/import, and data dump backup methods. * Hands-on experience on setting up DNS, DHCP services, make data access rules to prevent unwanted network access from inside and outside * Extensive skills to diagnose performance, security and connectivity issues with diagnosis software and script language * Experience on configuring servers and workstations to connect to the networks and setting up connections between instruments workstations and data backup servers. Bachelor's degree in related fields such as Computer Science plus two years of experience, or Master's degree in Computer Science. Experiences/knowledge with instruments software such as LCMS/MS, ICPMS, HPLC and software Waters Empower and Negenesis, Sciex Analyst, Thermo Fisher Watson LIMS, IDBS E-Workbook, Waters UNIFI, Oracle database , etc. is a plus.
