ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities* Precisely and accurately interprets medical advice and information given by the healthcareprovider into equivalent terminology in the patient's native language.* Establishes and maintains quality service and positive interaction with all patients, customers, visitors, healthcare providers, and employees.* Facilitates a connection between patients and healthcare providers. Functions as a patient advocate and a health educator, providing patients with relevant health educational materials in Chinese* Maintains strict patient confidentiality, informed consent, on-discrimination and by interpreters code of ethics and standards of practice.Essential Functions* Provide accurate translations for healthcare providers and patients.* Current knowledge of medical terminology and procedures in English and Chinese.* Written translation as required in patient encounters such as filling out forms and medical instruction, and medication schedules.* Support the office operations by answering the phone, taking requests, calling patients to confirm appointments, data entry and document encounters on the interpreter tacking system.* Verify and schedule follow-up/future appointments when necessary, to include contacting patients with appointment reminders.* Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.* Strong interpersonal and listening skills, flexibility, and customer service orientation.QualificationsEDUCATION AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:* Fluency in Chinese Mandarin and Chinese Cantonese and English* Bachelor's degree in any area related to science or medicine* Proof of medical interpreter training-minimum of 40 hours* At least 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting as a medical interpreterClosing StatementJefferson Health delivers state of the art healthcare services to patients throughout the Delaware Valley and southern New Jersey.
