The Perioperative Registered Nurse will provide care to those patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures. Surgical services represented include General and Orthopedic surgery, OB/GYN, GU, Vascular, and Podiatric surgery. Occasional call is a part of the job expectation. The perioperative nurse will work well with anesthesia by providing assistance as needed while also maintaining control and organization of the surgical suite and ensuring sterility of the sterile field while simultaneously providing excellent patient care and patient advocacy. Competencies include but are not limited to Ability to scrub and circulate in surgical cases; orthopedics, general surgery, OB/GYN, aseptic technique, sterilization techniques, assessment skills, and technological skills.This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by this employee.
