Anesthesia Licensed Practical Nurse - Anesthesiology

Providence is calling a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) (0.6 FTE, Variable Shift) to the Anesthesiology Department at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, WA.The Anesthesia LPN provides patient care using available resources and approaches based on hospital policy, procedure, and protocols.In this position you will:* At the direction of an RN, administers and monitors PO medications, IV medications, IV solutions, IM/SQ, Dial-a-flow, IVAC, BARD Infu-OR pumps.* Calls and obtains MD orders, calls for lab results. Monitors patients and calls RN and/or MD with changes in patient status.* Demonstrates knowledge of administration of IV solutions and medications, and oral and injectable medications and monitor results.* Documents medications according to established procedures without repeated patterns of error.* Documents patient's response according to established protocols.* Ability to understand and interpret doctor's orders and lab reports.* Ability to observe, interpret, record, and report appropriate signs, symptoms, reaction, or changes in patient's condition to appropriate team members.* Participates in care planning and documentation.* Demonstrates knowledge of protocol, safe use, and basic maintenance of all patient lifting devices; restraint use and side rail safety precautions; body mechanics and limitations.Required qualifications for this position include:* Washington State License as an Licensed Practical Nurse.* Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association.Preferred qualifications:* Previous LPN experience in acute care hospital setting and/or a busy clinic setting with procedural experienceAbout the hospital you will serve.Providence St. Peter Hospital is a 390-bed, not-for-profit regional teaching hospital.
