With 30,000 installations worldwide and full aftermarket support, our packaging machines and systems have been successfully implemented in a wide variety of industries including: food, beverage, printing and publishing, pharmaceutical, personal care, building supplies, automotive, material handling and other consumer products.ARPAC'S breadth of equipment is unmatched in the industry and includes: fully integrated packaging systems that are custom designed to fit your specific requirements, conventional and robotic palletizers, shrink wrappers and bundlers, tray and case formers, tray and case packers, shrink tunnels and pallet stretch wrappers.ARPAC'S headquarters, manufacturing, training facility and showroom are centrally located near Chicago's O'Hare International Airport, with sales offices throughout the United States.We have immediate openings for seasoned Field Service Technicians who will be responsible for commissioning, preventative maintenance, machine audits and extensive travel.Specific responsibilities include:* Travel extensively and efficiently to customer sites and provide installation, commissioning, emergency on-site repairs, preventative maintenance, audits, retrofits and training services.* Perform extensive mechanical and electrical modifications including PLC program modifications and servo drive reconfigurations.* Support the ongoing development and adherence to all company procedure guides, policies and processes diligently as well as meeting the required standards.* Maintain first time fix, field response time and customer satisfaction rate at the target level.* Hold site visit meetings with assigned contact, including opening scope and exit meetings.* Responsible for coordinating communication between the field, line management and the internal support staff.* Responsible for timely and accurate documenting and reporting of all service-related activities.* Provide timely feedback to quality department on equipment reliability and design.* Adhere to all onsite training requirements as requested.* Exercise safe working practices and procedures at all times.* Conduct training with customer's personnel to ensure an understanding of the theory of operation, proper functionality, and general maintenance of equipment.* Participate in the rotation of weekend on-call duties.* Fill-in for technical phone support personnel during vacations or illnesses.* Ensure paperwork, timesheets, CRM entries, expenses and other paperwork functions are done promptly, on time and to a high quality.* Periodically perform technical support, final assurance, or other duties at SupportPro HQ.We offer our staff a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package including Medical, Dental, Vision, Flexible Spending Account including Dependent Care, Life Insurance, Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability, 401-K, Paid Vacation Time, and Paid Holidays.ARPAC provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or geneticsQualificationsPOSITION SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:* Critical Thinker* Complex problem solver with strong root cause analysis skills* Decision Making and Judgement - Makes timely, informed decisions that take into account the facts, goals, constraints, and risks.* Teamwork, Relationship Building and Influencing Others* Customer Focus - Builds and maintains customer satisfaction* Self-Management - Manages own time, priorities, and resources to achieve objectives* Communication skills - written and verbal* Solid knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic components and their interaction.* Read, comprehend and interpret complex technical information involving mechanics and electronics. Must be able to interpret schematic and electrical diagrams.* Allen-Bradley Compact Logic programming capabilities.* Allen Bradley PanelView HMI programming capabilities.* Solid understanding of RS 5000 and RS 500.* Ability to Go online with PLC's, troubleshoot issues, as well as download and upload programs.g* Ability to make minor modifications and edits on PLC programs such as, add rung on PLC: add timer, open and close contacts, move and add instructions.* Understand Variable Frequency Drives (VFD's) and set up parameters.* Solid understanding of how servo drives work, particularly Allen-Bradley.* Component level troubleshooting competency.* Knowledge of electrical circuits.* Computer literate and capable of using MS Office suite and terminal emulation software; capable of learning additional proprietary software programs. Understands networking/Ethernet communication.POSITION REQUIREMENTS:* Must be at least 21 years of age, with an excellent credit rating and driving record. A valid driver's license and a U.S. passport are required.* Minimum of AAS or BS in Mechtronics, EE, EET, EECS or Industrial Electronics is desired.* Minimum of five years' experience diagnosing, troubleshooting, emergency service and repairing electronics and mechanical machine problems in the field or commensurate military experience.* Experience and ability to travel extensively throughout the week away from home.* Experience with extensive Allen-Bradley PLC, servo, and HMI programming is desired.* Knowledge and experience with robots and / or robotic systems highly desired.* Experience with plc integration a plus.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk or hear; uses hands to finger, handle, or touch objects or controls. On occasion, may be required to climb and work in high places, stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The incumbent must occasionally lift, push, or pull up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
