The University of Virginia's Health System is seeking an Electrician Senior, Shift Worker to join their Zone 4 team. This is a shift position with rotating hours. The Electrician Senior, Shift Worker supports Facilities Management's goal of providing consistent, cost-effective, efficient, and reliable maintenance. It is anticipated that the incumbent will be assigned to the new Ivy Mountain Musculoskeletal outpatient surgery center, which is projected to open in October 2021. The incumbent performs installation, repair, and maintenance trades work on electrical systems and equipment in buildings, including emergency backup systems, alarms, and life-support equipment in support of zone maintenance. Senior Electricians receive only limited supervision and provide worksite guidance to Electricians. Most work is performed with little or no direct supervision. This is a Shift position with rotating days and hours. Duties Include: * Assume responsibility for laying out and running larger and more complex jobs involving more than one mechanic. * Assist supervisor in coordinating daily assignments among different jobs. * Perform preventative maintenance repairs and emergency maintenance on electrical equipment. * Respond to emergency requests. * Inform customers of job status, reasons for and duration of expected delays, as well as refer customers to the supervisor when appropriate. * Foster a safe work environment by instructing and monitoring compliance of OSHA, federal, state, and local regulations, the National Electrical Code, and The Joint Commission. * Specify, estimate, and install equipment, wiring, and systems in accordance with applicable standards and requirements. * Direct and provide guidance and mentorship to lower level electricians. * In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned. Qualifications: * Education: High school diploma or equivalent. * Experience: A minimum of seven [7] years of electrical experience, including knowledge of emergency backup systems and switchgear operations. Experience working in a hospital setting is preferred. * Licensure: Journeyman or higher electrical license. A Master's license is preferred. The anticipated hiring range for this position is $24.05 - $26.90 hourly [$50,024 - $55,952 yearly]. This Shift position is eligible for pay differentials. Selected candidates will be required to complete all required background checks, including a health screen, prior to the first day of employment. Physical Demands: The employee must be able to variously sit, stand, walk, climb stairs and ladders, crawl, stoop, bend, squat, lift, pull, and use both hands-on repetitive tasks (including overhead tasks). The employee must have normal vision and hearing (correctable), and for some areas of employment, color vision and sense of smell.
